We’re alive. All three of us.
I’m sorry it’s taken so long to write this, it’s not that the flight was awful, it’s that I’ve just woken up – I got here two weeks ago and handed both kids to my parents and went to bed. I feel like sleeping beauty – just a little less attractive and more exhausted.
THE FLIGHT …
To give you context – there is a single flight from Sydney to South Africa each day. It is 14 hours long, leaves at 11:30ish and arrives in Johannesburg the same day at 4:30pm.
With most other international flights we’ve been on there has been some point at which it is [...]

Nowadays flying has become that necessary, yet dreaded event that makes you cringe just thinking about it.
Fear not! Although I have only flown with Kennedy twice, I took her on her very first flight SOLO when she was 6 months old! I know CRAZY, right?! Well, I am here to tell you it is not as bad as it sounds IF you follow some of these very simple, practical rules of flying with an infant.
1. Protect your Stroller/Carseat/Pack ‘n Play We all know our luggage gets thrown [...]
I cannot stand jet lag – it seems such a waste of time and energy.
I am currently in the throes of jet lag and can’t wait for it to end so that I can begin to think and act like a normal adult and not a hangry toddler.
I used to think that jet lag was all in the mind and something you could just snap out of or just distract yourself from, but it turns out I am wrong. There are a whole bunch of biological factors that contribute to jet lag with your brain being in control of the discomfort you experience.
Below is a set of facts that I have sourced from all over the place which give a good understanding of where jet lag stems from and what it [...]
I feel like we are crazy people for flying with a baby (almost 5 months old) and maybe we are! Apparently people do this all the time. I personally don’t know these people, but I’ve read about them. The anxiety level is at a whole new high, especially when you have very limited flight experience. The week prior to the trip was filled with pacing, lists, and consolidating. But somehow we made it out alive. So, while this won’t dissolve your anxiety, here are 10 things I learned from flying with a baby that might help tone it down a notch.
1. Baby wear! This literally saved my life. E hates the car seat (can you blame him?) plus who wants to try and [...]
My family is always on the go! We enjoy traveling and haven’t let having kids slow us down. In fact, my husband and I figured that it might be good for them to get used to our active lifestyle. With all the airplane travel that I do I knew that needed to find something to make transporting bottles easier. The Skip Hop Grab and Go Double Bottle Bag is a great product to consider for moms who are planning to spend a day away from home or for those moms who are going to travel with their little ones. I’ve even heard that moms who pump while away from home have found this bag useful for transporting their breastmilk.
I have used this bag on numerous trips and have been very [...]
