Nowadays flying has become that necessary, yet dreaded event that makes you cringe just thinking about it.
Fear not! Although I have only flown with Kennedy twice, I took her on her very first flight SOLO when she was 6 months old! I know CRAZY, right?! Well, I am here to tell you it is not as bad as it sounds IF you follow some of these very simple, practical rules of flying with an infant.
1. Protect your Stroller/Carseat/Pack ‘n Play We all know our luggage gets thrown [...]
I feel like we are crazy people for flying with a baby (almost 5 months old) and maybe we are! Apparently people do this all the time. I personally don’t know these people, but I’ve read about them. The anxiety level is at a whole new high, especially when you have very limited flight experience. The week prior to the trip was filled with pacing, lists, and consolidating. But somehow we made it out alive. So, while this won’t dissolve your anxiety, here are 10 things I learned from flying with a baby that might help tone it down a notch.
1. Baby wear! This literally saved my life. E hates the car seat (can you blame him?) plus who wants to try and [...]
Calling all babywearing parents! If you’re from Florida (like me) or any place that gets considerably warm outside, you have to check out the ErgoBaby 360 Four-Position Cool Air in Carbon Grey. The 360 Cool Air is a performance carrier from the ErgoBaby family of carriers with some new features and improvements from the previous 360 design.
The 360 Cool Air has the same safety and reliability that we’ve come to know and love from ErgoBaby.
Rather than the noisy Velcro waistband that so many 360 carrier parents complained about, this carrier reverts back to the previous waistbelt buckle design with a slight modification. The lumbar support is a floating piece [...]
In my shopping for a baby carrier, I knew it had to meet my standards for style and healthy positioning of my baby’s legs to avoid hip dysplasia. I ultimately decided on a BabyHawk Mei Tai carrier, but when it arrived, my hubby was less than impressed. So we immediately set out to find one that he would also enjoy using. That lead us to the Infantino Fusion carrier. This is a more modern working of a baby carrier, similar in scope to an Ergobaby that everyone on every other mommy message board seems to love, BUT, a much better value for our budget. Clocking in at only $39.99, this carrier is one of the better valued pieces of baby equipment we’ve found and we receive lots of [...]
Honestly, one of my favorite things to do is wear my baby. Not only does it allow me to have him close to me, for both of our comfort these days, it also allows me to get other things done around the house.
Before I invested in a carrier, I did some research to find out what the best positions were for RJ as he grew and there is a lot to read out there about which ones are best to prevent hip dysplasia and support an infant’s neck and trunk. I’m no doctor, so I won’t pretend like I can rehash the science of it all. You can check it out for yourself here.
The main factors I considered when choosing my carrier were support for RJ, value over time (would it grow with [...]
