What’s the one baby purchase that both my husband and I rave about? Our infant bucket seat: the Chicco KeyFit 30. After our first was born, we became those parents who told anyone in the market for baby gear who would listen about our love for this seat. Now, this behavior is not unusual for a mama, especially one obsessed with finding the best infant gear (me). But my husband? Now that’s something to write about! When it came time to move our eldest into a convertible seat, we both missed the ease of the bucket seat. (Side note: I think people who claim that their convertible seat is so amazing and so easy must not have used the Chicco. They just don’t know how [...]
My son came home from the hospital at 5lbs 11oz and just about 19″ long and the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 Infant Car Seat was a good fit for his little frame. According to the manual, the straps are to fit “at or below” the shoulders. This was a little close at first, and my son was not low birth weight. If he was any smaller I would have been a more nervous mama than I already was!
The straps were a bit of a pain to adjust and readjust. Out of the box, you have to readjust to the lowest setting to suit your newborn. I made a remark in the Negatives section of this review that this might not be the seat car seat for smaller low weight preemies or term babies who [...]
We purchased the Baby Jogger City GO infant car seat along with the City Select stroller when we had our daughter 8 months ago. We purchased bases for both my car and my husband’s truck. We did this so that we could easily transfer her from one vehicle to the other. My husband was able to install both of them quite easily. My grandparents and my parents actually purchased bases for themselves as well once they realized how convenient they were to use with the car seat. However, not everyone’s car has a base, so it is great that the car seat can be secured with only a seat belt. This would be convenient if you frequently rode in taxis or car-pooled. The car seat can also be used with [...]
As a mama to two, and a foster mama to many, I have tried out my fair share of infant car seats. The Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 LX is one of my favourites for many reasons. It has a weight range for babies from 4-35 pounds when most only go up to 22 or 30 pounds. The height limit is 32 inches, which means this seat can be used with most babies even after they turn one! This makes the seat very versatile, and gives you great bang for your buck because you can use it longer than you would other infant seats.
It feels very sturdy and easily clicks into the base. It is simple to release the latch to remove from the base as well. The seat has a great design, and is easy to [...]
My husband and I have always been over-achievers and the known planners in our circle of friends. Prior to our sweet babe’s arrival, we had spreadsheets comparing brands and prices. We made lists of things we had to do to the nursery or purchase before our little bundle of joy joined us. Yes, the lists were even color coded and each task had a deadline assigned to it.
One of the purchases we were most happy with was the Britax B-Agile 3 and B-Safe 35 travel system. Though the car seat is available for purchase on its own (and it comes with a car base) the price point of the travel system together was unbeatable!
The best advice I ever got for purchasing a [...]
When I brought my Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 it was unfortunately, a spur of the moment purchase. My son was born 7 weeks prematurely and spent a few weeks in the NICU. When he was born, I was told he would be in the NICU for a month or two. He was there 2 weeks. I had planned to use my daughter’s old car seat (Graco SnugRide Classic Connect) but it had a weight limit of 5lbs and my son was just under 5lbs when he was ready to go home and the car seat just didn’t fit him properly. So, I had to find a car seat that fit at least 4lbs AND it needed to be $100 or less because we had not budgeted for a new car seat.
I am normally a researcher when it comes to buying important [...]
