My mother is Italian, and I come from a loving, high energy and very effusive family. No emotions on lockdown when I was growing up, (nothing has changed in that). Open expressions of love and feelings were never prohibited, and I’ll say with amusement that my energetically open, affectionate and readily communicative style of living was definitely something for my sweet husband to adjust to. But despite having grown up with such love and depth, I wasn’t prepared for the beyond intense, past all consuming feeling that is being a mom.
I don’t think anything, or anyone, can actually prepare you for the insanely, crazily beautiful, soul devouring, [...]
I’m a frugal person by nature.
I come by it honestly; it’s in the genes as they say.
I like to save my money, and I love a good sale. Making large purchases can be difficult for me.
When I found out I was pregnant, my thoughts turned to my wardrobe. Clearly, my normal wardrobe would not carry me through my pregnancy. I needed to have clothes that would accommodate my growing body.
Initially, my view on maternity clothes was this:
“I don’t want to spend much money on maternity clothes because I’ll only be wearing them for a short time.”
Sound familiar? It’s a common viewpoint when considering maternity clothes.
It’s true – you only wear [...]

Nowadays flying has become that necessary, yet dreaded event that makes you cringe just thinking about it.
Fear not! Although I have only flown with Kennedy twice, I took her on her very first flight SOLO when she was 6 months old! I know CRAZY, right?! Well, I am here to tell you it is not as bad as it sounds IF you follow some of these very simple, practical rules of flying with an infant.
1. Protect your Stroller/Carseat/Pack ‘n Play We all know our luggage gets thrown [...]
I feel like we are crazy people for flying with a baby (almost 5 months old) and maybe we are! Apparently people do this all the time. I personally don’t know these people, but I’ve read about them. The anxiety level is at a whole new high, especially when you have very limited flight experience. The week prior to the trip was filled with pacing, lists, and consolidating. But somehow we made it out alive. So, while this won’t dissolve your anxiety, here are 10 things I learned from flying with a baby that might help tone it down a notch.
1. Baby wear! This literally saved my life. E hates the car seat (can you blame him?) plus who wants to try and [...]
What’s the one baby purchase that both my husband and I rave about? Our infant bucket seat: the Chicco KeyFit 30. After our first was born, we became those parents who told anyone in the market for baby gear who would listen about our love for this seat. Now, this behavior is not unusual for a mama, especially one obsessed with finding the best infant gear (me). But my husband? Now that’s something to write about! When it came time to move our eldest into a convertible seat, we both missed the ease of the bucket seat. (Side note: I think people who claim that their convertible seat is so amazing and so easy must not have used the Chicco. They just don’t know how [...]
My son came home from the hospital at 5lbs 11oz and just about 19″ long and the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 Infant Car Seat was a good fit for his little frame. According to the manual, the straps are to fit “at or below” the shoulders. This was a little close at first, and my son was not low birth weight. If he was any smaller I would have been a more nervous mama than I already was!
The straps were a bit of a pain to adjust and readjust. Out of the box, you have to readjust to the lowest setting to suit your newborn. I made a remark in the Negatives section of this review that this might not be the seat car seat for smaller low weight preemies or term babies who [...]
