Budget Friendly Valentine’s Day Gift Idea
My favorite budget Valentine’s day gift idea is actually not just one gift. It’s 14. This gift idea is called 14 Days of Valentine’s Day. 14 days of Valentine’s is an excellent way to give your loved ones something special without blowing your budget. The gifts are incredibly small, but when placed with a special note and given over the course of 14 days, it becomes extraordinary.
The first time I heard of 14 days of Valentine’s was a few years ago when I wanted to give my husband something extra special for Valentine’s Day, but we didn’t have any extra cash. I saw this post on Pinterest titled 14 Days of Valentine’s by Mommy by Day Crafter by Night and I thought how perfect. I would give my hubby something small each day with a cute little note to show him how much he means to me. These little gifts popped up in various places up until Valentine’s Day. Each gift cost about $1 or $2 except for a few things I splurged on, like beef jerky. I switched mine up a little from hers to suit my husband’s tastes.
This year I will be doing it again. But not just for my husband, but for my children, too. I know traditionally when you think of Valentine’s Day you think of your spouse or significant other, but I feel like Valentine’s Day is a day where you show everyone you care about just how much you love them. I mean, honestly, I feel like this is something you should be doing everyday, but let’s be real, we can’t give and receive gifts every single day. But you can for 14 days just to give an extra boost of love!
The idea behind 14 Days of Valentine’s is that you will give a small token of appreciation each day beginning February 1st until Valentine’s Day. Then on Valentine’s Day you can give your biggest item or maybe a cluster of small items. These small little gifts don’t have to cost much, but since it’s unexpected and thoughtful, they become more meaningful. Plus, you can pair them with cute little love notes or use the FREE printable from my blog.
For my 14 Days of Valentine’s I pick up my supplies at Dollar Tree and Target’s dollar section. This year I spent approximately $30 on gifts for my two kids, husband, and my mom. I got each of my kids and my husband a little mailbox to place their little gifts in. I knew the kids would love to be able to get up each morning and check their mail. Since some of the gifts are a little big compared to the mailbox I may do a little scavenger hunt for them. It depends on how creative I feel! Since my kids can’t read yet I may skip writing the little notes for them, but I am definitely doing them for my hubby.
