This is a product I really wish I had known about when my son was a baby. The receiving blankets I had for him were decent, but they were not big enough to use for swaddling and the fabric quality was questionable. Seriously, don’t let yourself be fooled like I was by thinking that all swaddle blankets are created equally. They’re not! I remember hearing about the aden + anais Classic Muslin Swaddles and wondered what all the hype was about. Well now, after purchasing my first set for my daughter, I know!
Each swaddle is made out of 100% cotton muslin and they are pre-washed. The fabric is extremely soft and frequent washing does not compromise the quality. No need to worry [...]
I have absolutely loved the Keekaroo Peanut Changer and am so glad that I purchased it. This was definitely a splurge, as most diaper changing pads are less expensive. This changer has been fabulous and is still something that I use on a daily basis.
The Keekaroo Peanut Changer is different from the other changing pads and I’m excited to share why! One of the best features of this pad is that it is impermeable to fluids and is very easy to clean. I am able to wipe it down very quickly after use. There is no need to place a cover over the pad. That is a huge bonus since there are some days where messes occur on more than one occasion. I already have enough laundry and [...]
I’ll be honest, I did not have a mobile on my baby registry, nor did I have one on my son’s crib the first few months of his life. I hadn’t really thought about purchasing one and at the time didn’t really think it was something that I needed to add to his crib. After visiting my parents I completely changed my mind. My mom had put a mobile that was mine when I was a baby on the changing table in the nursery she created for her favorite grandson. He absolutely loved watching the animals go around and enjoyed the music. My grandparents saw how much he enjoyed it and when they found out he did not have a mobile they jumped on the opportunity to purchase him one.
The [...]
When my son was an infant I remember reading a research study that found that running a bedroom fan had been shown to decrease the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). At that point I decided that we would run a fan in his nursery and we started doing this the day he made the move from the bassinet in our room to his crib. My husband and I always turned the fan on when we put him down for a nap or for bed in the evening. What started out as a way to do whatever I could to reduce the risk of SIDS also turned into a great way to provide background white noise while he slept. The constant hum of the fan became something he recognized and he began associating the fan [...]
After doing quite a bit of research I narrowed my search down to two monitors that seemed to best fit my criteria: the Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens and the Summer Infant Wide View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor. Both of these monitors have great features, but in the end I chose the Summer Infant Wide View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor because the price point was lower and it did not require an additional purchase for the wide-angle lens.
Overall, I’ve been extremely pleased with my purchase of the Summer Infant Wide View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor. As always, safety is a top concern of mine when choosing products for my [...]
While my son was in the Special Care Nursery after his premature birth the nurses would often swaddle him. He seemed to really enjoy this and I continued with swaddling once we returned home. Pediatricians recommend “back to sleep” and advise against placing blankets in the crib in order to promote a safe sleep environment. Once my baby started rolling onto his tummy I transitioned him from a swaddle to a Halo SleepSack wearable blanket.
The Halo company was established after founder Bill Schmid and his wife Cathy tragically lost their firstborn to SIDS. The American Academy of Pediatrics began recommending the use of wearable blankets in 2005. Currently, there are [...]
